What is a perfume decant?
A decant is a smaller amount of a fragrance, transferred from the original full-size bottle into its own spray vial. It is the same perfume the house sells, in a quantity you can actually use up. A week or two of wearing a decant tells you how a scent opens, how it dries down, how it copes with an Australian summer and whether people notice it. A paper strip at a counter tells you about the first ninety seconds.
Decants are also how people build a wardrobe of fragrances without buying a shelf of full bottles: a few 5ml or 10ml vials of favourites cost far less than one bottle, and they fit in a bag.
Decant sizes: how many sprays do you get?
- 2ml, about 30 sprays. Roughly a week at four sprays a day. The easy way to try something new.
- 5ml, about 70 sprays. Two weeks or more, enough to know whether you love it.
- 10ml, about 180 sprays. A season of wear, or a travel bottle of a fragrance you already know you like.
Every decant comes in a labelled glass atomiser with a fine-mist spray, sealed and cushioned for transit.
Where our bottles come from
Every bottle we decant from is a genuine, full-size fragrance, bought from a retailer or a wholesale supplier and kept after decanting. We do not decant from bulk refills.
A small number of our bottles are testers: the same fragrance the house sells, supplied without the presentation box. If you would like to know whether a particular decant comes from a tester, just ask and we will tell you. Read more about how we source.

Are your decants the real fragrance?
Yes. Each one is poured straight from a genuine full-size bottle of that fragrance, with nothing added. If you want to know where a particular decant came from, email us and we can tell you the supplier and the date we bought the bottle.
How do I choose between 2ml, 5ml and 10ml?
Pick 2ml when you are curious, 5ml when you are fairly sure, and 10ml when you already know you like it and want a season of wear without buying the bottle.
Where do you ship decants?
We ship throughout Australia. Orders are hand-filled, packed and dispatched from Sydney, usually within one to two business days, with tracking. Shipping is free on orders over $60.
How should I store a decant?
The same way as the full bottle: cap on, out of direct sunlight and away from heat, so not on a sunny windowsill or in a hot car.
